Prospex’s Stone Face collection reimagines the cowboy—an enduring symbol of American masculinity—through the lens of stone. These portraits depict male figures adorned in rock, their faces partially covered by fractured minerals and gemstones, as if wearing them as armor, masks, or a second skin.

Stone is often seen as a symbol of toughness, resilience, and stoicism—qualities long celebrated in men. But it also represents rigidity, a loss of softness, empathy, or openness. These portraits explore that tension: the sadness of a man hardened by his surroundings, yet with a beating heart still somewhere beneath the surface.

Set against stark, graphic backgrounds in muted pastels and earth tones, these AI-generated headshots strip away the traditional sense of environment, allowing the figures to exist in a suspended, symbolic space. In Stone Face, the cowboy’s adornments are more than decoration—they are barriers, façades, and the weight of history worn on the skin.
